Keystone
by CloudVoro
Comparison · SoftTrace

SoftTrace is the dairy heavyweight.
Keystone is the lighter, faster alternative.

SoftTrace has been serving dairy for over 20 years across Ireland, the UK, Europe and North America — that history matters and Keystone is not going to pretend otherwise. The honest question is who each system is the right fit for. If you run a large multi-plant creamery with a long-tail of regulatory reporting and your own dairy IT team, SoftTrace is a serious choice. If you are an artisan or mid-market producer looking for traceability, dispatch and retailer documentation without a heavy ERP-style project, Keystone is the lighter, faster option.

  • Pilots scoped to go live in 30 days vs typical 4–9 month dairy-ERP projects
  • Founder-led implementation — no SDR funnel, no ticket queue
  • €790/month standard licence — transparent, all modules unlocked
  • Built side-by-side with Cashel Farmhouse Cheesemakers on a real Tuesday
Where SoftTrace is genuinely strong

Dairy credibility, scale and history.

SoftTrace has 20+ years in dairy. They have deployed at large creameries, they understand high-volume bulk-milk operations, and they have a brand that opens doors at enterprise dairy buyers. For a large processor with €50M+ turnover, plant automation requirements and an in-house dairy IT function, that track record is worth paying for.

Where Keystone wins

Speed, cost, simplicity and fit.

Faster to live
Pilots scoped to go live in 30 days on real production data. Standard implementation €4,950–€16,500. Compare with multi-quarter SoftTrace dairy projects.
Founder in the room
The person who wrote the code implements your tenant personally for the first 12 months. No SDR, no offshore, no ticket queue.
Better for artisan/mid-market
Variable-weight wheels, retailer private-label SKU mapping, per-customer dispatch templates, founding partner is an artisan creamery — not a hypothesis.
Modern UI
Built on React and designed for tablet use on the production floor. Looks and feels like the SaaS your team already uses.
Sits beside your accounts package
Keep AccountsIQ, Sage, Xero or QuickBooks. Keystone is the production layer — not an ERP replacement.
Transparent pricing
€790/month standard, €1,290/month multi-site. No quote games, no per-user surprises.
How to choose honestly

When to pick SoftTrace. When to pick Keystone.

Pick SoftTrace if you are a large multi-plant creamery with bulk-milk operations, plant automation needs and an in-house dairy IT team. Pick Keystone if you are an artisan, family-owned or mid-market producer — typically 5 to 60 staff — who needs production-grade traceability, dispatch and retailer documentation, with finance staying in the accounts package you already use, and you want to be live in 30 days, not 9 months.

FAQ

Questions buyers actually ask.

Has Keystone replaced SoftTrace anywhere?
Not yet — Keystone is a new product and we are honest about that. Our founding partner moved from spreadsheets, not from SoftTrace. We are happy to be benchmarked against any SoftTrace quote you have received.
Will SoftTrace data import into Keystone?
Yes — historical batch, customer and dispatch data imports through our standard data migration tooling. 12 months of historical data is included in standard implementation.
Why is Keystone so much cheaper?
Lower overhead (no enterprise sales team, no offshore implementation team), modern stack, and a deliberate choice to be the lighter option for producers who do not need the SoftTrace scale.
What about HACCP / BRCGS coverage?
Keystone is designed against BRCGS Issue 9 §3.9, §3.11, §4.7 and §5.4. We will walk an auditor through the system on a discovery call.
Can you do a head-to-head pilot?
Yes. €2,500 30-day pilot on your real production data — 50% refundable if you decide SoftTrace is the better fit.

Ready to see if Keystone fits your floor?

20-minute discovery call. No sales pitch. Written scope within 48 hours if we fit — referral to someone better if we don't.
