Keystone

Alternative · MRPeasy

An MRPeasy alternative
that actually speaks food.

MRPeasy is a solid general-purpose MRP, if you assemble physical products, track BOMs and manage stock, it does the job at a reasonable price. But food manufacturing has requirements that MRPeasy simply doesn't cover: batch-based traceability with expiry-driven logic, retailer-specific dispatch documentation (Tesco / Aldi / Lidl / M&S formats), COAs generated per batch, pallet labels that satisfy GS1-128 SSCC scanning, allergen inheritance across recipes, and audit-log evidence for BRCGS §3.9 and §5.4. What food producers end up doing is buying MRPeasy for €49–149/user/month, then rebuilding traceability in Excel around it. Keystone is what happens when you build the whole system food-first from day one.

  • Purpose-built for food, batch traceability, COAs, GS1-128 SSCC pallet labels
  • Retailer-formatted dispatch notes (Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, SuperValu, M&S, Ocado)
  • Flat €790/mo, not €49/user/month that scales to €500+ as you grow
  • Founder-led implementation with a working Irish creamery as founding partner
The MRPeasy gap for food

What MRPeasy leaves you to solve.

Batch traceability
MRPeasy tracks lots but doesn't model the chain a food auditor needs: forward + backward trace across a variable-weight batch, split-batch dispatch, mass balance under 4 hours. You end up doing this in Excel.
Retailer dispatch templates
MRPeasy prints generic packing slips. Tesco Ireland, SuperValu, M&S UK, Aldi and Lidl each want their own format, pallet labelling, and delivery notification. Keystone ships these as templates.
COAs per batch
A Certificate of Analysis needs to be generated automatically per batch, signed, PDF-stamped and archived. MRPeasy has no concept of a COA. Keystone generates them in 6 seconds.
BRCGS / FSAI evidence
Auditors want a signed audit log, immutable, exportable. MRPeasy has activity logs but they're not designed for a §3.9 walkthrough.

MRPeasy vs Keystone on the food-specific requirements.

When MRPeasy is still the right call

The honest recommendation.

If you're a general-purpose manufacturer, hardware, electronics, textiles, cosmetics assembly, MRPeasy is a good, sensible choice at its price point. If your product needs BOMs and stock without regulator-driven traceability, don't over-buy. This alternative is specifically for food producers: dairies, bakeries, meat processors, ready-meals and prepared foods, seafood, artisan food. If your customer list includes UK / Irish supermarkets, food service or export retailers, MRPeasy's food-generic model will cost you more in Excel-workarounds than the licence saves.

FAQ

Questions buyers actually ask.

Why does Keystone cost more than MRPeasy per licence?
It doesn't, at scale. MRPeasy is €49/user/month on the entry tier, for a 10-person food operation that's €490/month and you still don't have COAs, retailer templates or SSCC labels. Keystone is €790/month flat for unlimited reasonable-use users with all food-specific modules included. Break-even is around 15 users.
Can I import my MRPeasy stock and BOM data?
Yes, MRPeasy exports CSVs of items, BOMs, customers and orders. These import into Keystone through our standard data migration workflow.
Does Keystone do the MRP planning that MRPeasy does?
Keystone has a weekly production planner that's designed for batch-based food (make-days, target volumes, resource allocation). It's not a full MRP-II demand-forecasting engine. If you need multi-echelon MRP forecasting, we integrate with your accounts package for demand signals rather than replacing them.
Do I need to leave MRPeasy or can I run both?
Most producers switch fully, running two systems creates reconciliation cost. But for the first 30-day pilot we run Keystone alongside MRPeasy so you can compare direct results before committing.
What about accounting integration?
Keystone integrates with Sage 50/200, SurfAccounts, QuickBooks and Xero. If your accounts stay in one of those, we sync customers, invoices and credits automatically.
